Bold Moves for Spring 2016

What's up folks...

It's been a while since we've discussed style here and I won't delay any longer. Spring 2016 has a lot of great trends to it and one thing they all have in common is boldness. This warm weather will see us shedding our layers and stepping out in bold colors, daring materials and outrageous prints. When you look good, you feel good right? Let's get to three looks that will guide you to kicking your spring off the right way...the fashion citizen way !

Let's ease into things with a bomber jacket, one of the hot items for the spring. Any old bomber jacket isn't going to do so let's up the ante with a jewel toned satin embellished with sequins. This is the perfect jacket to throw on for a weekend full of errands or over a slinky black dress for a night out. For this look, I paired the statement making jacket with a cobalt crop top and a distressed denim skirt. A caged sandal in a bright tangerine finishes the look off. When going for a statement look, make sure you go all the way with it. You can take this outfit to a casual lunch or a movie date.

It's a look like this that causes us to snap our necks at the It Girls. How do they effortlessly put together these looks and then sell them to us like that? I'll tell you how, they are comfortable in it. It's that simple, they are wearing comfortable pieces that just so happen to make a great statement. A hi-lo skirt in an army green is paired with a graphic tee, but not just any graphic tee. You see, you're going to have to go a little farther for your tees this season. Scour some new sites or check out your local thrift stores for unique items that will set you apart. The bomber is back again for this look, this time in a sheer black pattern. Here's the thing, you want to have a look when your jacket is on and when it's off. Your super cool tee will peek out of the sheer parts of this jacket, giving the folks around you a sneak peek of your latest greatest find.

Accessories are minimal but still power packed, oversized bamboo earrings in black, an envelope clutch and rose gold sneakers. I know, I looks like a lot of look but it's really not. The most fun about dressing in a bold way is trying out new things and putting together unusual pieces. Much like our girl, Anna Dello Russo, confidence makes pretty much any look dope !

Last look may look simple but sometimes the impact can be just as big in a smaller number of statement pieces. So let's start from the most "chill" of the pieces, the minimalistic nude sandals. They are an essential for spring. Know this ladies, you can rock this color nude above but take things a step further and find a sandal like this in your own skin tone. It will make your legs look long and sexy for those hot days and nights ahead.

Boyfriend denim with graphic patches pairs nicely with our latest Fashion Citizen t-shirt, available now here {shameless plug}. One accessory this time, hand-painted cat eye frames from Cierra Lynn. This look paired with a messy top knot is great for pretty much anything. I don't like to set limits on looks, so take this and run with it.

Warm weather, especially spring, should bring about an awakening. Your style has been heavy and layered all winter and now it's time to shake all of that off and get bold for the newness that awaits.
