NYFW Highlights – Chado Ralph Rucci

Chado Ralph Rucci was an interesting show as I thought that they only catered to the mature woman. This season, SP 2011, was very fresh and current. These pieces would be at home on any woman, regardless of age. Neutrals were the central color scheme in this show with a few splashes of pink and black. The A-line silhouettes and cropped jacket pairings were my favorite as was the final…

NYFW Highlights – Calvin Klein

Calvin Klein is great for basic pieces and he gave more must have basics with his SP 2011 collection. The other detail that’s awesome about this collection is that these basics with a few well placed accessories could be show stoppers. There were very voluminous pieces and daring plunging necklines at Calvin Klein. Yet again, I’m a fan. pics: elle.com

NYFW Highlights – Carolina Herrera

Carolina Herrera’s show was different from any other one that I’ve seen from her before. She had prints, beautiful gowns and silhouettes and those always present red carpet candidates. The interesting detail this time was the presence of seed packet labels. I know what you’re thinking…yes, the cover of seed packets for gardening. Not the new glossy ones but those older ones that were hand drawn and often times just…

NYFW Highlights – Betsey Johnson

Betsey Johnson is one of those shows where you just view the pieces and smile. Betsey seems to always be living in the Cyndi Lauper world of “Girls just wanna have fun”. I’m not even mad at her though, it’s pretty cool to have a designer who’s always tapping into the pulse of the young funky fresh lady. Betsey makes pieces for the young woman who’s self assured and comfortable…

NYFW Highlights – Carmen Marc Valvo

Carmen Marc Valvo delivered a very chic collection with a hint of sex appeal thrown in. One dress with its exposed corseted bodice and another with a hint of sheer yoke gave a nod to the woman who wants to be sexy without spilling out of her dress. The other dresses were very much old hollywood glamour. I can almost hear the oohs and ahhs as these beautiful dresses stand…

NYFW Highlights – Basso & Brooke

Basso & Brooke was all about prints. It’s nothing better than seeing a very interesting print translated into a great wearable garment. Basso & Brooke did that very well and created pieces that would look at home on such fashionistas as Zoe Kravitz or even Chloe Sevigny.

NYFW Highlights – Carlos Miele

Carlos Miele gave a very bright, fun presentation for SP 2011. The collection was full of color and movement. He even had someone singing as the models came down the runway. Fringes and ruffles were a reoccurring theme of this show and the gowns that closed the show were simple and beautiful.

NYFW Highlights – Antonio Berardi

Antonio Berardi gave dramatic pieces in neutral colors. One can think that neutral colors can come off boring but Antonio Berardi’s show was proof positive that they are anything but. One of the cool highlights of the show were the mullet dresses. You know, long in the back, short in the front, these dresses were sent down the runway with unique cropped jackets. The party dresses were flirty with sheer…
