Fashion Forecast 2011 x Valentino Couture FA 2010
Before I address the image above, I know some of you are saying how can something from 2010 give me inspiration for 2011. Well it can, just trust me. If you're a regular reader of Fashion Citizen, you saw the Christmas slide show I did and in prepping for that post I was scouring style.com for pics of red, white and green gowns. One red gown in particular caught my eye, so I mentally bookmarked it and promised I'd go back and check it out. Well I did and it was a part of the Valentino FA 2010 Couture collection. I was kinda blown away a bit because it was like the 60's were re-imagined on the runway and done so expertly well. The silhouettes and the designs were impeccable and so chic. It got me to thinking about the "look" for ladies in 2011 . . .
2010 was a lot of rocker chic and hardness for women, but near the end of 2010 as we started to see 2011 fashion emerge...the return to lady like fashion poked it's head out. Now lest you think everything was prissy and ladies who lunch, it wasn't that at all, Marc Jacobs gave you the boho lady for his name sake collection and for Louis Vuitton gave you the 5th Avenue set. Ok, back to Valentino Couture... the pic from the first page, the half glove with the bow, how saccharine is that but not sickeningly so. The oversized bow and half glove make it modern. So guess what, lady like is back but with a modern edge to it. Now I know couture is gowns and gala finery but take a look at my selections from the show below and see what you'd like to add to your 2011 wardrobe, in your own way, of course.
