Fashion/Music Mash Up – LOUD by Rihanna
It's been a while since I've done a fashion/music mash up and I believe this is my first one on fashioncitizen.com. This fashion/music mash up is inspired by Rihanna's LOUD album. It took me a minute to like this release, when I heard it in totality I was sold on it. Rihanna's voice is stronger and her material is pretty dope on this release. In case you don't what a fashion/music mash up is, I take the songs from a release and construct a look based on the feel of the song. The opening line of the first tracks says, " Feels so good being bad, there's no way I'm turning back." It's safe to say the good girl has gone bad and she won't be good ever again. This song evokes a mood of a sexually strong woman as she declares at one point during the song, "Chains and whips excite me." She is definitely all about adventure and control in her boudoir. An all black looked seemed so in tune with this song's mood with many studded accessories, from the Miu Miu pumps to the great Burberry bag, a hot item this season.

This track starts off with Drake, the suitor, telling the woman how attractive she is and how much in pursuit of her he is with lusty fervor. She responds by telling him that he's the only one who knows how to work her body, the chorus she puts up a challenge of this guys sexual prowess and it seems this is going to be a hot exchange between the two. For this look, I saw a young lady playing that game of cat and mouse with a gent she's known a little while and tonight is his lucky night. She's got some spunk to her as indicated with her bleached jeans and outrageously colored heels. The cropped tee says "why not" after all this young lady doesn't plan on spending this night alone.

This party jam opens up with, "Cheers to the freakin' weekend, I'll drink to that, Oh, let the Jameson sink in, I'll drink to that, Don't let the bastards get you down, turn it around with another round, there's a party at the bar, everybody put your glasses up and I'll drink to that...I'll drink to that." This is a feel good song about getting out for the weekend to get your drink on with the crew and have a great time, no negative vibes allowed. This girl is funky and fly, she's got short leather shorts with patterned leggings and a rocker tank top. She says in the song, "Got my Ray Ban's on and I'm feelin' hella cool tonight," and those were a must...her red patent boots cap the look off.

Apparently, the party from the previous song was a good one because this girl woke up telling her guy that he need not attempt to try to get back with her because she's finally realized that he's fading away and she's ready to change for the better. The song reminded me of a meeting in a park, neutral place with witnesses in case things go left. She's chilling in a studded loafer, girly tee and grey indicating the stormy nature of this relationship. She's done but there's no reason not to make a stylish exit out this relationship.

Well this lady is done with dude fading and has moved on to another beau, this go round she wants to be made to feel like she's the only girl in the world. She wants attention, lust, love and a great time. A graphic printed mini skirt is the center piece of this look, paired with a chic silky tank top and a denim jacket just in case she ever cools off. Her hand cuff earrings are a nod to the line in the song where says, "When you enter, you ain't leavin', be my prisoner for the night." Suffice it say, this gentleman is in for a treat and I'll just bet she'll keep those red booties on the whole time.

It seems that love is short lived around this girl. This song opens with her laying in bed with her loves reminiscing over the closeness they used to share but realizing now that the closeness is purely because they're laying next to each other but are emotionally miles apart. She's distressed about losing the love that they shared and I imagine this beautiful maxi dress she lounges in but when the silence is deafening and dude gets up to leave, she throws on those sandals and chases out after him. The jewelry she already had on (lol), no need to accessorize in a moment of emotional turmoil.

Ok, so the turmoil from the last song turned bad and in a moment of rage, she shoots ol boy in the train station in front of a crowd of people. She laments in the song, "Cause I didn't mean to hurt him, could've been somebody's son and I took his heart when I pulled out that gun,". She's trying to disappear and get out of town, even calling her mom to confess her crime and hope if caught she only gets minimal time. A great trench and fedora are perfect to hide out and escape the scene of the crime. She carries the popular PS1 bag containing passport and money, but does she get away...

Well looks like she escaped the crime from the previous song and this go round, she's proclaiming the abundance of men that flock to her but she's not an easy mark. She's confident and won't take the first guy that comes up to her, at point telling a potential suitor, "your friends looks better". This sassy woman is wowing the crowd in a yellow body-con strapless dress and bright accessories including her Louboutin's. I have a feeling even with all that sass and looking this good, she's going to get what she wants.
9. Complicated

As expected, our emotional rollercoaster of a girl on this album is back screaming that is so hard to love her man because he's so complicated. She wants to love him, but then she hates him, she wants to hug him and then she wants to punch him in the face. She's yelling loudly to him that he's making it so hard to love him, but I think maybe this is a 60/40 issue with her being 60. She says at one point, "I'm a stick around just a little while longer, just to make sure that you're really sure you like sleeping alone." I imagine she goes over to dudes crib, decked out and fly in bright yellow platform pumps, gray comfy harem pants and the ever trendy faux fur gillet, but there is to be no resolution despite how attractive she looks, he's just not easy to love and I suspect, neither is she.
10. Skin

The couple from the previous song must've ironed out their differences because this sensual bedroom jam is an ode to skin on skin, yeah you guessed it, sex. She wants to experience the joys of pleasure one mo' gain and plans to make it as sexy as possible. She says in a breathy tone, "All I'm in is just skin" and all she wants her beau in is just skin. Well before she gets to the skin, this lingerie inspired dress and scent are all that she's wearing with sexy strappy sandals...although as flimsy as the beautiful dress is, it won't last long because she's aching to be in just skin. Once the Dom P is popped, it's a closed set.
11. Love The Way You Lie : Part II

Well at the last song of the album, we find our beautiful girl who's been LOUD all over this release returning to a meeting with that emotionally unstable lover and it's an abusive relationship but they've parted but can't seem to cut the strings. In such a strained interaction, this young lady is still quite chic in another all black ensemble but with Nicholas Kirkwood booties and a stunning Matthew Williams rabbit fur jacket. She's got a turban on, another trendy item. I imagine this meeting goes on on a gray, foggy day...she says she loves the way he lies but this type of dangerous relationship needs resolution and a clean break.
