The Embassy of Canada’s La Soirée Charity Event 2014
This weekend started with an awesome evening on Friday at the Embassy of Canada at their annual United Way charity event, La Soirée. This event benefits the United Way in both Canada and the United States. The event brought out some very stylish people who helped to raise approximately $12,000 for the evening. This was in addition to the estimated $50,000 already raised by the Embassy throughout its 2014 United Way Campaign. The theme highlighted the province of Quebec, showcasing French Canadian beauty, fashion and music.
The evening’s emcee Christine Constantin, spokesperson for the Embassy of Canada, kicked things off with her bubbly personality, inviting guests to enjoy the fashion that was presented and a Jazz Café provided a relaxed vibe away from the main dance floor. Guests were treated to fashion presentations from designers Travis Taddeo, Eve Gravel, Philippe Dubuc and Melissa Nepton who hail from the fashion mecca in Canada, the city of Montreal. There was also an amazing visual playing throughout the night showcasing the beauty of the two cities mentioned earlier from cinematographer Dawn Reed. The models from R.O.E. Agency brought the pieces to life on lighted platforms in the center of the ballroom.
While we were viewing the stylish designs that Montreal had to offer, the guests were treated to Canadian specialties including Unibroue beer, Crown Royal Mapletini, poutine, smoked salmon and Montreal bagel bites. Once the fashion presentation wrapped up, the dance floor opened and the party kicked into high gear well into the evening. The models returned to the floor and staged an impromptu walk off and some of the guests joined in, much to the delight of everyone. I would like to thank Michelle Mahoney & Christine Constantin for inviting me to cover this amazing event and introducing me to the great cities of Montreal and Quebec City.
